As the number of Monkeypox cases is climbing on a global level, the US Health officials have ramped up their testing and tracing facilities. They have expanded their access to vaccination and treatments along with 1200 doses of vaccine for monkeypox rolled out in the US.

Dr. Raj Panjabi, White House Senior Director for Global Health Security and Biodefense stated that the Government is ensuring that people with high-risk exposure have access to vaccines and if they become sick, they can receive appropriate treatment.

Health workers in Massachusetts are the first among the other volunteers to receive vaccination against the monkeypox virus. Jynneos vaccine, a 2-dose drug is licensed to prevent smallpox and monkeypox along with ACAM2000 for monkeypox prevention.

US CDC has reported 20 cases of monkeypox across 11 states along with symptoms such as rashes, and well-rounded lesions, that progress to fluid-filled pustules. The CDC researchers have reported that initial cases were diagnosed among people who were identified as gay, bisexual, etc. They have also stressed the need for clinical providers to resolve their biases and provide proper services. However, they also added that the pox is not confined to certain geographical regions or population groups, hence people should be aware of any close contact with infected persons irrespective of gender, or sexual orientation as anyone can acquire and spread monkeypox.
